Good Morning…?

As I begin to write at what amounts to 5:30 Mountain Standard Time my body clock is so off only know That Sleep is a looming priority once this brief update is posted.

Friday marked the beginning of Cornerstone Community Fellowship’s 8th time in the community of Sierra Prieta and our 7th mission’s trip, all in partnership with Food for the Hungry.  We have been blessed by the partnership and each year we see God working more and more in the community.  This year our team of 8 traveled for over 24 hours leaving Powell at 1:30pm Friday and finally getting through immigration and customs at almost 7 o’clock Saturday evening.  We thank God for the relative ease of travel but are all very tired as we prepare to sleep.  I don’t think anyone has had more than 2 or 3 hours sleep since we left home.  In spite of the sleep deprivation, the team has been upbeat and we are all excited to arrive in the community tomorrow.

Arriving at a hotel near the airport for needed rest, we were blessed to be greeted by Kelvin, the first FH staffer to work in Sierra Prieta along with Carlos and his fiancĂ© Jennifer.  It was good to see and catchup with old friends as well as make new ones.  Jonathan, who has replaced Carlos as teams coordinator picked us up from the airport in a new FH 12 passenger panel van, with their driver Robinson.  Carlos is now teams liason, doing advance work for teams and recruiting new churches to join the C2C relationship.

This team is a great mix of wisdom, enthusiasm, curiosity and familiarity.  We are all looking forward to picking up our translators tomorrow and getting to Sierra Prieta.  It will be great to see old friends and to see how God has been working since we last had a team here over Thanksgiving of 2014.

Thanks for your prayers.  We look forward to seeing God work in, through and around us.  It's so clear that this is a partnership with many player including Cornerstone Church, Food for the Hungry, the community & leadership of Sierra Prieta, those who sponsor children and those of us who get to visit.  Thank you for your part in the work God is doing here.
